Kamala Harris? What?

Fictional Conversation

Child: What is a h@e?

Me: It’s something people farm with, to dig I believe.

Child: So Kamala is a farming tool.

Friend: Not exactly, see a h@e is also.

Me: STOP TALKING, SHUT UP.

Person 1: Do you know what a h#e is?

Kamala Harris was nasty”, “Kamala Harris is unqualified”, and now the latest, “Kamala Harris is a ‘h#e’.”

It seems so easy for a man to hurl insults at a woman. Insults that are based in sexism without any care for the impact of said speech.

Usually, I would ignore this as I’m sure Kamala has bigger things to worry about, and she’s not going to lose sleep over the sexist attack aimed at her. But, I won’t ignore it.

Let’s look at the first. Donald Trump calling her “nasty”. This is not new– Donald Trump has perfected insults. However, of particular concern are the insults he aimed at women, women who are by every measure, his superior. Women, who have overcome odds stacked against them to rise up to the highest positions in the land. Yet, Trump calling women nasty, “Nasty Women” is not what is concerning.

No, then what is?

The fact is, people accept this as truth– insults spread like wildfire, leaving only one option, accept and embrace. Hillary Clinton did it; “Nasty Women” became her battle cry, a losing Battle cry, but it was hers.Trump was and still is one of the nastiest people to enter the contemporary political arena, if “Nasty” is defined by the rhetoric a candidate uses.

Saying Kamala is unqualified, is an alternative fact. Love her or hate her, her qualification to hold office should not be questioned. Not when Trump is President.

But, she’s a “h#e” right? You cannot debate that.

Being a “h#e” does not mean anything to me, that a person engages in sexual activity is irrelevant to their capacity for leadership. The abuse of power to engage in sexual relationships with subordinates or people who lack access to power is more concerning to me.

To argue that Kamala is not a “h#e”, which there is no evidence that she is, would be to engage in a debate about “h#es” and whether that disqualifies a person from leadership. It does not!!! @ Rush Limbaugh

Still, no one calls Trump a “h#e”. Is this because he is a man, speaking to the gendered language, with all the accusations against Donald Trump, it seems quite strange that his team and supporters would launch such an attack on Kamala Harris.

It is understandable, when we look at the world as it is, we understand that the root of sexism runs deep in our society. Sexism is at the core of politics; it allows for the support of a man who has abused his position to take advantage of women and be on his third wife with three baby mothers. Not to mention, the long line of women accusing him of sexual misconduct.

For such a man and his cronies to accuse a woman of being a “h#e” with little to no evidence, is beyond ironic.

I wonder what a black man with Trump’s stats would be called? But this is not about race either, right?

Let’s focus on her politics please.
